New Weekday Ride Schedule

January 12, 2024 As noted in the January 2024 Newsletter, VDOT is closing the bridge on Frays Mill Road (at the bottom of the “Pyrenees” near Advance Mills Road) for the entire year.  This closure affects more than two-thirds of the routes used on the Tuesday/Thursday club rides out of Spring Hill Baptist Church (SHBC), as well as some routes from other start locations. Due to the substantial impact the bridge construction will have on the club’s planned routes from

What an amazing first year it’s been… CBC is now 200 members strong! More than 180 group road and gravel rides were scheduled. Members socialized off the bikes at club happy hours and the summer picnic. We learned new bike

Follow Up From The Club President

January 12, 2022 THANK YOU! After six months of strategizing, planning, incorporating, designing, building, testing, drafting, revising, and revising some more, on January 1 we announced the new Charlottesville Bicycle Club. A refreshed brand, an expanded mission, and a new website went live. Then we held our breath waiting to see what would happen. We didn’t have to wait long. Support for the new venture was immediate, and incredibly positive. And it continues. To CBC’s charter members of 2022, thank

Musings of a RWGPS User on a New Year!

January 4, 2022 Why is RWGPS such a good safety measure? I started using Ride with GPS (RWGPS) 12 years ago now, why? Of course once upon a time paper cue sheets were the one and only way to follow routes, maybe with a cycling computer that indicated distance and speed so you could see where you were on the route by distance and look for the turns on your paper route. Or committing the route to memory. Then came

For more than 30 years, CBC has served the greater Charlottesville cycling world through its informative website and regularly scheduled road (and occasional gravel)
