A truly extraordinary ride, this route climbs through the Shenandoah National Park on the Skyline Drive from the Swift Run Gap entrance for 24 miles before turning around at the Skyland Wayside and heading back. Skyland is the highest point on the Skyline Drive; you are guaranteed to get your fill of scenic mountaintop overlooks. Don’t miss it.

For details on how group rides are categorized, check out the Ride Classification guidelines.
All riders are required to have a helmet; a taillight, Road ID and a rear-view mirror is strongly recommended. You are also expected to have adequate fluids and a road-worthy bicycle in good repair. Many rides, but not all, will include the opportunity to stop at a store to replenish supplies.
You should be prepared to fix a flat tire and perform other minor repairs on the roadside. If you are new to cycling and are not comfortable with these procedures, don’t let that stop you. However, you might want to talk to a more experienced member before the ride so the group is prepared to help if necessary.
The club considers safety to be our very highest priority. Please review the information on the Safety Page before you join us for a ride.
We hope that you will find this site helpful; your questions and comments are welcomed.
Start times are based on seasonal averages. Because of the inability to ensure everyone is informed of a last-minute change, scheduled rides will not change based on predicted weather and temperature. Also, club rides generally will not show as “canceled” on the calendar. All riders have their personal thresholds for temperature, wind, and moisture, and are expected to use their best judgment about whether to ride on a given day. CBC encourages all members to exercise caution. If in doubt, please use the comment section on the ride calendar page to communicate with other potentially interested riders.
Two options, please post to our Facebook Group or contact us.
Will be there on the half-bike.
I will be there!
My wife gave me a friendly reminder that 4 months ago we agreed to go to a weeding tomorrow at 2:00 pm. The conversation ended with “Do what you want to do” we all know what that means… I will not be able to ride tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to ride on Sunday (And maybe a little solo ride on Saturday)If anybody would like to use my season pass, let me know and we can meet at some place on town.
Why not do both, Miguel? Your CBC jersey is sure to be a hit at the wedding.
You’re a good man, Miguel!
Be careful sharing or using the park passes. The last couple of times Chris and I have biked on Skyline Drive, the ranger has asked for ID with the pass.
I’ll be there. First time. Looking forward to the ride.
Looking forward to Miguel towing me up to the lookout. Let’s hope for clear blue skies.
I will be here. Where is the parking? inside or outside the park? I have the year pass so I can cycling in with 3 more riders.
Parallel parking is available just after passing through the fee station. If that’s full, there’s additional parallel parking on Skyline (to the left and right) about 100 yards further up. Thanks for bringing a pass. Last year, I think the fee station was still unmanned as folks arrived, so we didn’t confront the issue of people entering by cars rather than bikes.
Thanks! I will be there.
