June 2024

News Highlights:

Ride Calendar Update – All scheduled morning club rides will begin at 8:00 am in June.

Black Bear Festival, June 1 – Come check out the family-friendly Virginia Black Bear Festival this Saturday, 10A-4P in Stanardsville.  This one-day event will celebrate the local culture and outdoor opportunities of our local Blue Ridge Mountains.  The festival will feature entertaining, educational and interactive demonstrations provided by nature and wildlife organizations, as well as local food, music, and vendors.  CBC will be there to talk about all things cycling.  Details are available here.

Thanks for Supporting Community Bikes! – A big crowd of CBC’ers joined the May 16 happy hour at sponsor Random Row Brewing Company for the fundraiser, held in cooperation between Nest Realty and CBC, for the benefit of 501(c)3 Charlottesville Community Bikes.  Including the matching funds provided by CBC leadership, CBC members contributed a significant chunk towards the $2,500 that was raised during the 2 hour event.  A big thank you to everyone who participated in the fun, and supported Community Bikes’ efforts to promote environmentally-sound transportation, recycle bicycles, and make cycling accessible.

Next Happy Hour – On June 20 from 4:30 – 6:30pm join us for the next CBC Happy Hour at one of our sponsors — Random Row Brewing Company in Cville.  Discounts available for members.  See the calendar for details.

Summer Picnic – Back by popular demand, CBC will return to Maybelle’s Market in Dyke for the club’s third annual summer picnic on July 13, 2024.  Routes will be available for all classes of riders, with the picnic to follow underneath Maybelle’s covered pavilion.  All members and their families are invited.  Details, including ride times and routes, will be announced soon.

Extra jerseys available – If you missed out on our latest jersey sale this spring, or you joined the club after our jersey sale, we have the following extra short sleeved jerseys available for purchase: classic women’s medium (2), classic men’s medium (1), classic men’s large (1).  Jerseys cost $65 and can be paid for elcetronically, or with check or cash.  Please contact us if you would like to buy or try on a jersey.

Your Club Membership – Did you know that you can find out when your club membership expires on the club website?  In addition to getting the reminder emails that we send, you can review the data by logging in, then clicking on “Account Settings” in the drop-down menu under Members at the top of the homepage.  Then select “Subscriptions” to see your current and past membership activity.
