News Highlights:
Ride Calendar Updates – It’s been HOT this summer, but it looks like we might have an upcoming break in the weather. Take advantage of that and join us on a ride! No matter the temperature, always carry plenty of water. A few of our routes do not have stores for resupplying. The start time for all August rides is still 8:00AM. As always, please arrive in plenty of time to get your bike and yourself ready to roll out of the parking lot by that time.
Encouraging Group Ride Participation – Plan to join a group ride? Great! Please sign up by logging in, then clicking the “Sign Up for Ride” button on each Ride page linked from the Club’s calendar. This will let your friends know you plan to attend. Plus, members can see who else from the Club plans to be there (the list of signees is not visible by non-members). It only takes a second. If your plans change, you can always “cancel” by clicking the same button.
Summer Picnic recap – More than 30 CBC members came out to Dyke, Virginia for the club’s fourth annual summer picnic that was held on Saturday, July 12. In spite of the heat, a good time was had by all when riding one of the three new route options, socializing after the ride, and enjoying the lunch provided by Maybelle’s Market under their shaded pavilion. It was great to see both old and new faces out there.
Ride/Lunch at Maybelle’s – Come ride the beautiful roads of Greene County and stick around for post-ride lunch on Thursday, August 28 at Maybelle’s Market in Dyke, VA. Two ride distances will be offered. Check the calendar for details.
Save the Date – This year’s Tour de Greene is scheduled for Saturday, October 11. Three distances of paved route options will be available. You can register here.
Cville E-bike Voucher Program – The City of Charlottesville is running a pilot program that offers $1,000 vouchers for qualified e-bikes from participating local dealers to 25 people selected by lottery each quarter. The program is open to any Charlottesville resident 18 years of age or older. Click here for details.
Extra jerseys available – If you missed out on our latest jersey sale this spring, or you joined the club after our jersey sale, we have the following extra short sleeved jerseys available for purchase: classic women’s medium (1), classic women’s large (1), classic men’s medium (2), classic men’s large (2). Jerseys cost $66 and can be paid for electronically, or with check or cash. Please contact us if you would like to buy or try on a jersey.
