Some of us have noted we’re not seeing all the emails from the club, or they are being delivered to our Promotions or Spam folder. I hope this article helps to sort this out. This post is specific to Gmail users.
Why emails get delivered to Gmail’s promotions tab.
Learn why your emails from CBC go to Gmail’s Promotions tab and tips for landing in the Primary tab.
Gmail introduced different inbox tabs, including the Promotions tab, to help improve deliverability and open rates, and to decrease spam complaints from their users. Gmail delivers emails to these tabs based on constantly changing algorithms that take variable data into account, including sender information, email content, and recipient engagement. There’s no need to fear, though! You can think of these tabs as additional inboxes. And not all Gmail users take advantage of the tabs — many disable them in favor of having a more traditional inbox where all emails are delivered to one place.
Why is my CBC email delivered to the Promotions tab?
Gmail moves marketing and bulk emails, such as deals, offers, and other promotional messages, into the Promotions tab. Emails sent through MailChimp typically end up here because they are an Email Service Provider (ESP).
Getting CBC emails delivered to the Primary tab.
Gmail’s Primary tab includes all emails from people you know and any other messages that don’t appear in other tabs. Getting CBC emails to land in a recipient’s Primary tab is naturally hard to control — it’s all up to the client!
Moving an email to the Primary tab.
You may decide to move CBC emails into the Primary tab by clicking and dragging one of the emails from the Promotions tab. By doing so, you’ll have the option to have all future emails from CBC delivered to the Primary tab.
Disabling tabs.
You may also disable these tabs altogether, allowing all emails to be delivered to your Primary inbox:
- Click the Settings gear icon and then select See all settings from the drop-down.
2.Click the “Inbox” tab. Then, uncheck the box next to Promotions and any other unwanted tabs to remove them from the inbox. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.
Here’s something you can do to help your CBC emails land in your inbox (or Primary tab):
Add our From email addresses to your contacts (we have more than one). In Gmail, this can be done by hovering over the sender’s name in the top-left corner of the email, and then clicking the Add to Contacts icon (see the red outline below). Emails from your “contacts” always go to your Primary inbox.
The Bottom Line:
The emails from CBC are in your inbox, Gmail has just put a label on it for you!
