SUMMARY:Afton - Sherando - Waynesboro (57\, A / B\, H)
DESCRIPTION:This challenging\, highly scenic ride includes a modest climb immediately after the start\, then a long climb up to Afton village and on to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Parkway climbs for much of the next 10 miles to Raven’s Roost (be sure to stop for the view) and continues on to Love Gap. It then descends into the Shenandoah Valley to Sherando and on into Waynesboro. A moderately long climb takes you back to the Parkway\, then the route heads back down through Afton village and back to the start. \nStores: Mile 24 (Love Gap; on the left at the beginning of the descent); mile 30 approx. (Sherando) \nAlerts:\n1. 1.3 mile stretch on US 250 from Afton village at mile 7 up to the Parkway has moderate\, fast traffic.\n2. SUMMARY:Mt Solon – Verona (38 / 46 / 59\, A / B\, H)
DESCRIPTION:This is a long\, hilly ride through the open rolling terrain of the central Shenandoah Valley. The route heads up the valley from Waynesboro for 10 miles\, then heads west across the valley to Mt. Solon before turning back; the cross-valley segments include a number of long rolling hills.
