DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with Cville Bike Month\, CBC invites interested cyclists to join the club for one of our group rides today\, followed by a safety class conducted by a League of American Bicyclist certified instructor. \nThis special event will begin with a pleasant\, relatively flat\, mostly open ride that starts by heading east past Blenheim then making a loop in western Fluvanna County. \nFollowing the ride\, CBC member Peter Aaron will conduct a class that will teach you some skills to handle your bike in unexpected situations.  Peter says\, “even if you have been riding for many years\, we can all learn new skills.” \nStores:  Mile 8 (Woodridge); mile 21/29 (Woodridge) (NOTE: STORE CURRENTLY CLOSED) \nAlerts:\n1. DESCRIPTION:This is a long\, hilly ride through the open rolling terrain of the central Shenandoah Valley. The route heads up the valley from Waynesboro for 10 miles\, then heads west across the valley to Mt. Solon before turning back; the cross-valley segments include a number of long rolling hills. SUMMARY:Humpback Rocks - Vesuvius (60\, A / B\, VH)
DESCRIPTION:This is a stunning and quite challenging ride. Starting at the Humpback Rocks Visitors Center at milepost 6 on the Blue Ridge Parkway\, the route heads south on the Parkway\, climbs up to the Raven’s Roost overlook\, then descends from Reed’s Gap down to the Shenandoah Valley at Sherando. A long loop along the borders of a section of the George Washington National Forest takes you to the town of Vesuvius and to a 2.5 mile\, very steep climb back up to the Parkway and north to the starting point.
